One of the quintessential must go to events in the summer in Steamboat Springs is the Free Summer Concert series. The series started in 1993 which would only have a few hundred people in attendance. Currently the series features five concerts and has annual attendance close to 25,000 people. It is a favorite of my summer activities. When I first moved here in 2005 there was a free concert from Cracker and it rocked!! It was quite the welcome to town.
For the 2018 Summer Concert series the great mix of music includes:
June 30th with Galactic the New Orleans based funk band will absolutely blow the roof off the any venue. Including ones like ours that do not have a roof! Te ski is the limit with the incredible grooves they lay down.
July 7th Keller Williams Petty Grass featuring the Hillbenders: Keller Williams is a well-known performer for his great style and skill on the guitar. Petty Grass is bluegrass versions of Tom Petty hits. This is bound to result in everyone singing along to all the classic hits that the late Tom Petty created over his career.
July 21st JJ Grey and Mofro is a soulful singer from the sunshine state. With his onstage presence and incredible soulful sound it is sure to send chills down the spines of the audience.
August 4th Stephen Marley is the son of the immensely popular reggae musician Bob Marley. He is an eight time Grammy award winning artist and sure to bring an evening of great music.
September 2nd END OF SUMMER JAM featuring Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Eric Tessmer and headlining this incredible day of music will be The Motet
So pack you bag, bring a camp chair and some loot for a beverage. It is always an incredible and fun evening so do not miss any of these great concerts located at Howelsen Hill in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs!
